MYLES O’REILLY has made his career in the hospitality industry.

He studied hotel management in Ireland for four years, and was subsequently General Manager of a popular resort, the Ventnor Hotel in Port Vincent, South Australia, from 1981 – 1983. He traveled widely in southeast Asia for several years, doing missionary work in Kerrela, southeast India for a year and teaching English in Chaing Rai, Thailand for nine months.

He returned to Ireland in 1988 and worked in customs clearance for a shipping company in Dublin. Wanderlust seized him again in 1989, when he had an opportunity to come to the United States and to return to the hospitality industry. From 1991 to 1994, he presided over the bar at Fiddler’s Green on Fisherman’s Wharf, where he developed a legion of loyal customers.

Most recently, he was bar manager at the newly re-opened Chez Michel in San Francisco, until he resigned to devote himself full-time to refurbishing a former restaurant on Green Street. . .
